U.S. Drought Monitor: Relief From Dry Conditions Is Hit or Miss
USAgNet - 06/18/2021

The northern Great Plains and Upper Midwest experienced widespread degradation of dry conditions last week with the exception of localized instances of heavy rainfall in Montana and western North Dakota.

In similar fashion, scattered storms over the last few weeks in the southern Great Plains and eastern New Mexico caused isolated improvements to drought conditions for the week ending June 15 and also a few degradations to drought conditions in western Oklahoma where heavier storms missed, according to today's Drought Monitor report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

By contrast, widespread heavy rain occurred in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, where drought conditions improved or ceased in many locations.
