U.S. Milk Production Rose During Second Quarter

Milk production in the United States during the second quarter of the year totaled 58.1 billion pounds, up 3.7 percent from the same three months last year.
The average number of milk cows in the United States during the quarter was 9.51 million head, 47,000 head more than the January - March quarter, and 141,000 head more than the same period last year.
During the month of June, production per cow in the 24 major states averaged 2,011 pounds--27 pounds above June 2020.
