USD Hosts Symposium and The JAM Oct. 21-23
South Dakota Ag Connection - 10/16/2018

The University of South Dakota Center for Disabilities hosts the Center for Disabilities' Symposium & The JAM -- "Potential meets Opportunity" at the Sioux Falls Convention Center Oct. 21-23.

The event will feature notable keynote speakers such as the Honorable Katherine McCary, Jason Freeman, Wayne Weston and Dan Habib. These speakers' stories and presentations will encourage awareness, understanding and progress. For example, local employers will learn about the value of hiring and employing people with disabilities.

The event will also include breakout sessions to promote leadership and professional development for individuals with disabilities, family members, service providers and the business community. As an added bonus, attendees will have the opportunity to view a documentary film entitled, "Intelligent Lives." This featured film, produced by Dan Habib, stars three pioneering young American adults with intellectual disabilities who challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college and the workforce.
