Governor's Ag Summit July 12 and 13 in Aberdeen

Pre-registration is open for the eighth annual South Dakota Governor's Agricultural Summit to be held July 12 and 13 in Aberdeen.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required www.sdagsummit.com. Registration closes June 30.

"The Governor's Ag Summit is an opportunity for farmers, ranchers, ag industry leaders, legislators and congressional delegates to come together and discuss the future of South Dakota's largest industry," said South Dakota Department of Agriculture special projects coordinator Jodi Bechard. "The Summit kicks off July 12 with a tour to give attendees a closer look at agriculture in the northeast region of the state. The program on July 13 focuses on animal health, economics within the ag industry, succession planning and examples of some of the innovative ag companies in South Dakota." As a part of the summit hosted by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture, an individual or organization will received the Governor's Ag Ambassador Award for outstanding contributions to the state's agricultural industry. The award will be presented July 13, at the noon luncheon.

Agriculture is a major contributor to South Dakota's economy, generating $25.6 billion in annual economic activity and employing over 115,000 South Dakotans.
