The University of South Dakota Center for Disabilities, the USD School of Education and the Transition Services Liaison Project are collaborating to host the 2018 South Dakota Educators' Institute July 16-20 at the University Center in Sioux Falls.

Experts from across the state will lead activities and learning sessions designed to provide educators with professional training so they can help all students excel.

The first day of the conference will begin with opening remarks from Lieutenant Governor Matt Michels, who graduated from the University of South Dakota before becoming the 38th Lieutenant Governor of South Dakota.

Conference participants will then choose to attend up to 20 of the 52 presentations offered. Presentation topics include Indicator 13, assistive technology and transition, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Adverse Childhood Experiences and resiliency, youth behavioral challenges and mental health.

"This year's South Dakota Educators' Institute has outstanding information for educators, parents and others working with PK-12 students," said Robin Wiebers, Ed.D., assistant dean of the USD School of Education.

Graduate credit from USD will be available pending approval. Registration is open until July 13.
