The Davison County 4-H is hosting a Livestock Judging Contest on Monday, August 4, at the Davison County Fairgrounds located at 3200 W Havens in Mitchell, South Dakota. This event is a part of the South Dakota 4-H Livestock Judging Series and is a great opportunity for 4-H members to showcase their skills in evaluating livestock.
The Livestock Judging Contest is a competitive event where participants assess various livestock based on their physical traits, conformation, and overall quality. Judging livestock allows young people to develop important skills such as critical thinking, decision-making, and public speaking. These contests are vital for helping youth in agricultural communities gain hands-on experience and prepare for future careers in agriculture.
The contest will feature different livestock categories, including cattle, swine, sheep, and goats. Participants will need to evaluate each animal's quality and present their rankings to a panel of judges. It’s an exciting opportunity for 4-H members to demonstrate their knowledge and judgment in a real-world setting.
For those interested in attending or participating in the contest, it is recommended to contact Karen Roudabush for more information and registration details. This event is open to 4-H members who have been practicing their skills and are excited to compete.
