Microgreens event - A superfood celebration in a South Dakota

By Scout Nelson

South Dakota shines at the upcoming Mighty Microgreens Superfood Event. This celebration, held at Sanaa’s Gourmet Mediterranean in Sioux Falls, welcomes all to explore the flavors and benefits of microgreens. Scheduled for March 15, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this event promises a day filled with discovery and delight.

Microgreens, the tiny yet mighty plants known for their nutritional punch, take center stage. These little greens, including varieties like broccoli, radish, onion, corn, and sunflower, will be available for tasting. Sanaa’s will enhance the experience with appetizers featuring these nutritious sprouts.

The event, part of the "Fresher is Fun" series, focuses on promoting South Dakota-grown specialty crops. It's not just about tasting; it's a learning opportunity too. Attendees can dive into the world of microgreens with activities designed for all ages.

Kids can get their hands dirty with seed pack kits, while adults can learn about incorporating microgreens into their diets, their health benefits, and how to support local agriculture through Dakota Fresh Food Hub.

Dakota Fresh Food Hub, a farmer-owned collective, brings the best of local produce to your doorstep. With a focus on community and sustainability, they offer a convenient online marketplace for fresh, local goods.

This event is a perfect opportunity to meet some of the producers, like Little Greens Microgreens and SoDak Greens, and see firsthand the passion behind their products.

The Mighty Microgreens Superfood Event is more than a festival; it's a statement of support for local farmers, healthy eating, and the community.

As part of a larger initiative sponsored by the S.D. Specialty Producers Association, it aims to foster a stronger local food system. Don't miss the chance to be part of something green and great!
