Register Now for the 2026 Eastern South Dakota Water Conference

Registration remains open for the 2026 Eastern South Dakota Water Conference, scheduled for October 7, 2026, in Brookings, South Dakota. The event brings together people interested in water resources, economic development, and natural resource protection.

The conference is hosted by the South Dakota Water Resources Institute and the South Dakota State University Extension. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT at the McCrory Gardens and Visitor Center. Doors open at 8 a.m., giving attendees time to arrive before the program begins.

The conference provides an opportunity for local, state, and federal stakeholders to learn about important water issues facing South Dakota. This year's theme is “Balancing Economic Development with South Dakota Water Resources.”

Speakers and participants will discuss how economic development and industry growth can affect water resources. The program also covers water rights and availability, along with the need to protect natural resources.

Water is important to communities, farms, businesses, and industries across South Dakota. As communities and industries grow, managing water resources carefully can help support economic activity while protecting important natural resources. The conference provides a place for people to learn about these topics and share ideas.

“We have a great lineup of speakers this year whose variety of topics should generate plenty of discussion,” said David Kringen, SDSU Extension Water Resources Field Specialist.

The conference is open to adults, professionals, and students. Registration costs $85 for adults and professionals and $25 for students. The registration fee includes lunch.
