E15 Fuel: A Year-Round Option for Car Owners and Corn Producers

E15 Fuel: A Year-Round Option for Car Owners and Corn Producers

The EPA's waiver program has made E15 ethanol fuel available to consumers year-round, benefiting consumers, South Dakota corn growers, and the environment. This marks the second consecutive year of E15 availability.

E15 fuel offers consumers up to 16 cents per gallon year-round savings compared to E10, benefiting both wallets and the environment. Scientific studies confirm E15's safety and effectiveness, leading to the EPA's decision emphasizing the positive environmental impact of E15 usage.

The availability of E15 throughout the year also presents an additional revenue outlet for corn producers. With the high demand for ethanol, domestic use remains robust, ensuring a steady market for corn and supporting the local economy. The South Dakota Corn Growers Association welcomes this development, expressing their desire for permanent nationwide implementation of year-round E15 usage.

To celebrate this decision, the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council has launched an exciting contest, giving individuals aged 14 and older a chance to win one of three $500 E15 gas gifts. This initiative aims to promote awareness and interest in E15 fuel and its long-term potential as a sustainable and cost-effective choice.

As the summer E15 sales become a reality, it is evident that the EPA's waiver program has led in a new era of fuel options. The nation's consumers, corn growers, and the environment stand to benefit greatly from the increased availability of this higher ethanol blend. The hope is that Congress will take note of the positive outcomes and embrace the opportunity to make E15 a permanent fixture in the fuel market.
