South Dakota State University Extension Community Vitality, together with the community of Hot Springs, presents the 2024 Energize Conference. Scheduled for May 22 and 23, this event is set to empower rural South Dakota communities.
This conference serves as a hub for community leaders from across the state to unite, share success stories, and gain insights into enhancing their locales. The two-day agenda features influential speakers, interactive breakout groups, and social events that showcase Hot Springs' local resources.
Participants have the opportunity to engage in sessions led by South Dakota's most successful rural leaders and a renowned keynote speaker. Peggy Schlechter, SDSU Extension Community Vitality Field Specialist, emphasizes the conference's role in providing valuable networking and resources for grassroots community leaders and entrepreneurs.
The event is a joint effort between the Hot Springs community leaders and the SDSU Extension team. Andrea Powers, the executive director of the Southern Hills Economic Development Corporation, is thrilled to welcome the conference to her region, highlighting Hot Springs' unique businesses, accommodations, and tourist attractions.
This year marks the sixth installment of the Energize conference in South Dakota, following successful editions in DeSmet, Lemmon, Milbank, Fort Pierre, and Wessington Springs. The previous conferences have been instrumental in bringing together community leaders and business owners to exchange ideas and experiences, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
The conference continues to offer innovative and creative solutions for the challenges faced by rural communities.
