Join the upcoming field day at Dakota Lakes Research Farm on Thursday, June 27, from 3:00 p.m. to dusk, located at 21310 308th Ave., Pierre, SD. This event promises engaging activities and insightful tours, organized by SDSU Extension, the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station at SDSU, and the Dakota Lakes Research Farm Corporation.

Event Highlights:

  • Tour Schedules: Visitors can choose from two tours, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours and repeated twice. This setup allows every attendee to experience both educational paths offered during the event.

Tour Details:

  • Tour 1: Led by Sam Ireland, the farm manager, this tour covers the yearly cropping overview and recent research updates. It includes presentations by Sunish Sehgal on winter wheat, Melanie Caffe on oats, and Chris Graham on pea variety trials.
  • Tour 2: Focuses on crop rotation and its impact on soil carbon dynamics with insights from Dwayne Beck. Additionally, Cody Zilverberg will discuss pasture restoration techniques.

Special Preview: Interested in the farm's expansion? A special session on the recently acquired 480-acre land will be available for those arriving before 1:00 p.m.
