GEAPS Honors Top Grain Processors

By Scout Nelson

The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) proudly announces the first-ever recipients of the IOMSA Golden Ticket Award. This initiative supports professionals in the grain processing sector by providing opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge at GEAPS Exchange. Winners receive complimentary event registration along with a $500 travel stipend, helping them advance in their field.

This year’s IOMSA Golden Ticket recipients represent some of the most dedicated professionals in grain processing. Their commitment to learning and industry growth will be celebrated at Exchange 2025.

The winners include:

  • Katherine Johns – Cargill Inc, Cedar Rapids, IA
  • Daniel Kleine – South Dakota Soybean Processors, Volga, SD
  • Julia Nester – Consolidated Grain and Barge, Edon, OH
  • Lance Schreiber – Ringneck Energy, Onida, SD
  • Ryan Slama – CHS Inc, Mankato, MN

This award is named after the International Oil Mill Superintendents Association (IOMSA), which operated from 1905 to 2023, focusing on education and industry development.

The introduction of a new educational track at GEAPS Exchange will further enhance learning opportunities in grain processing.

This track will cover essential topics such as:

  • Efficient extraction methods, safety regulations, and quality control in grain processing
  • Innovations in soybean processing, including preparation techniques for better yield
  • The role of oil-based products in renewable energy, including biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel

“These winners represent a great cross section of professionals involved in the grain supply chain, from farm to fork, farm to fuel, and farm to the hundreds of other products made from grain. We’re excited to welcome them to Exchange so we can all learn together,” said John Caupert, Executive Director of GEAPS.

To encourage networking among professionals, GEAPS will host a Grain Processor Meet-Up on February 23, during the Welcome Reception at the Expo Hall.

GEAPS Exchange will take place from February 22-25, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. Visit geaps.com/exchange for details and follow GEAPS on social media for event updates.
