The deadline is fast-approaching for the 2022 Farms.com Precision Agriculture Scholarship Contest -- students have until June 30 to submit their idea. The theme for this year's scholarship is "Precision Agriculture that Meets Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance."
Students must submit their entry video via social media: YouTube, Twitter or Facebook. The video should describe the student's research/thesis or new idea regarding precision agriculture and its potential positive impact on the environment or is socially responsible.
- Videos should be less than 2-minutes in length
- Include the student or students first name(s)
- Include these hashtags #PAG22scholarship, #agtech & #precisionag
- Entries should also tag the following social media accounts:
- Twitter: @FarmsNews, @OntAg, @FarmsPrairies
- Facebook: @Farmscom
Farms.com feels it is important for today's young people to get involved in precision agriculture as they will become tomorrow's leaders -- this scholarship not only provides funding for student studies, it also accelerates innovation in the agtech sector.
Students studying agriculture, engineering, AI, robotics, environmental science, etc. are encouraged to enter for a chance to win one of three US$2,000 scholarships. One winner will be awarded in each region: United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
As noted above, students can be studying in any field, not just agriculture, however, the ideas will need to be practical and appealing to farmers, as farmers will be voting on the concepts they believe are the most worthy and practical.
A panel of judges, composed of sponsors, industry leaders, and Farms.com staff will determine the top submissions in each country, these will be posted on Farms.com.
The top submissions will be shared in late August, and farmers and producers will be invited to vote on the best thesis/ideas throughout August and September.
The three winners, as determined by voting in each country, will be asked to participate in a Precision Agriculture Student Panel Webinar, where they will have the opportunity to present their idea in more detail to farmers.
Eligibility:
- Contest is open to students in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom
