The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in South Dakota is hosting a State Technical Committee meeting on September 9, 2026.
The meeting takes place from 9 a.m. to noon CDT at the Matthews Training Center in Pierre, South Dakota.
The State Technical Committee provides advice to NRCS and other USDA agencies on natural resource conservation programs under the Farm Bill. The committee brings together people with different backgrounds in agriculture, conservation, and natural resource management.
The upcoming meeting includes several important updates. Congressional staff and State Technical Committee Steering Committee members will provide comments.
The State Conservationist will also share information, while local working group subcommittees will present reports. Fiscal Year 2026 updates are also part of the meeting.
State Technical Committees are chaired by the NRCS State Conservationist. They meet regularly to provide information, analysis, and recommendations that can help improve conservation efforts.
The committee includes representatives from a wide range of groups. These may include federal and state natural resource agencies, American Indian tribes, agricultural organizations, environmental groups, and agricultural producers.
The meeting is open to the public, giving interested producers, organizations, and community members an opportunity to learn about conservation activities and provide input.
