The South Dakota Specialty Producers Association (SDSPA) has recently embarked on a significant partnership with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) through the Conservation Collaborative Cooperative Agreement (CCCA).
This collaboration has given rise to the Organic Transition Initiative – Regenerative Agriculture Pathway Program (OTI-RAPP), a comprehensive program designed to steer local farmers towards more sustainable agricultural methods.
This initiative is a proactive step towards embracing regenerative organic practices (ROP) within South Dakota's farming community. By integrating these practices, producers will not only improve the soil health and reduce erosion but also enhance water quality across the state. The broader environmental benefits include boosting biodiversity, improving crop yields, and bolstering farm resilience to climate change.
SDSPA is committed to providing extensive support to the agricultural community through this initiative. The association plans to offer hands-on technical assistance, educational programs, and a variety of resources aimed at facilitating the practical implementation of ROP on farms throughout the state.
