The South Dakota Soybean Checkoff is supporting improvements at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds through a $30,000 contribution to the “Hog Wild for a Better Barn” fundraising campaign.
The South Dakota State Fair Foundation announced the pledge as part of an effort to purchase 450 new hog pens for the Swine Barn at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds. The project is designed to improve the barn and provide a better environment for exhibitors, visitors, and animals.
The fundraising campaign has a total goal of $240,000. The new pens are expected to improve safety and make the Swine Barn easier to use during events and livestock shows.
“The South Dakota Soybean Checkoff is committed to supporting today’s producers and developing tomorrow’s agricultural leaders,” said Kevin Scott, Executive Director of the South Dakota Soybean Checkoff. “The new pens will enhance safety and usability while giving youth exhibitors a better experience.”
The South Dakota Soybean Checkoff is funded and directed by soybean growers. Its work focuses on building markets, supporting research, and creating new opportunities for soybean production.
The organization also invests in innovation, education, and partnerships within the agriculture industry. These efforts are intended to increase demand for soybeans, improve farm profitability, and support the long-term future of soybean farming.
The contribution to the hog barn campaign also reflects the connection between soybean production and livestock agriculture.
