Join the SD Farmers Market Coalition Meeting

By Scout Nelson

The upcoming SD Farmers Market Coalition meeting is scheduled for the third Wednesday of March 2025, at 9 A.M. Central Time / 8 A.M. Mountain Time. This quarterly gathering is a significant event for those involved in South Dakota's agricultural markets, providing key insights and networking opportunities for farmers market vendors, managers, and community members.

The meeting agenda is set to cover crucial topics in the agricultural sector, particularly focusing on value added production and the intricacies of labeling. Jonathan Simpson from Simpson Printing in Rapid City, SD, will be on hand to discuss their services in labeling and promotional graphics, which are essential for enhancing product visibility and consumer engagement in the market.

Additionally, Lance Lockwood and Cheryl Pesicka Champman from SD Rural Development will provide an in-depth look at the Value-Added Producer Grant Program. With the application deadline approaching in mid-April, this meeting offers a timely opportunity for attendees to gather all the necessary information and have their questions answered about this beneficial program.

Membership in the SD Specialty Producers Association sub-chapter is required to participate in this meeting. Those interested in joining can visit the SDSPA’s membership webpage.

Membership fees are $15/year, in addition to the general SDSPA membership. This fee includes access to resources from the National Farmers Market Coalition, providing further benefits and support to members.

The coalition meeting is not only an educational opportunity but also a platform for community interaction and collaboration among those involved in the local agriculture scene.

Email SDSPA for the meeting link and ensure your spot at this important event. By joining the coalition, participants can directly contribute to and benefit from the collective efforts to enhance the profitability and sustainability of local markets. This gathering is an essential step for anyone looking to expand their impact within the agricultural community of South Dakota.
