South Dakota Farm Bureau's capitol day - advocacy in action

By Scout Nelson

The South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) is gearing up for an important event, "Day at the Capitol," focused on agricultural policy advocacy. This event, scheduled for February 6, provides an opportunity for Farm Bureau members to directly engage with South Dakota legislators and demonstrate the organization's active role in supporting farmers and ranchers.

The day's schedule is packed with activities aimed at maximizing impact and visibility. Starting at 7:30 a.m., members can attend various committee meetings at the South Dakota Capitol, using the North Door for entry.

A significant moment for group unity and visibility will be the photo session on the Capitol steps at 11 a.m., followed by a chance to mingle with legislators during a lunch hosted by SDFB.

Members will have the chance to be recognized in the South Dakota House and Senate at 2 p.m. This is a prime time for members to observe legislative proceedings and understand the decision-making process that affects the agricultural sector.

For more information or to address any questions, members can contact Regional Managers Lowell Mesman at 605-280-1319 or Helen Geppert at 605-770-8581.

This event is a key platform for SDFB members to advocate for their interests, connect with policymakers, and contribute to shaping agricultural policy in South Dakota.
