The South Dakota Soybean Association (SDSA) has recently welcomed two new members to its board: Andy Weisser from Roscoe and Tanner Hento from Avon, both elected at the SDSA Annual Meeting.
Weisser, a farmer in the Roscoe area, is involved in corn and soybean cultivation, as well as running a cow/calf operation.
Hento, from the Avon region, manages soybean, corn, alfalfa, and mixed hay production and was previously recognized as the 2021-22 American Soybean Association/Corteva Young Leader for South Dakota.
In addition to these new members, the SDSA board has elected new leadership, with Kevin Deinert as President, Chad Schooley as First Vice President, Drew Peterson as Second Vice President, Tanner Hento as Secretary, and Brent Greenway as Treasurer.
This blend of new and experienced leaders is a strategic move by the SDSA to create a robust and effective approach in representing and advancing the interests of soybean farmers in the region.
Further strengthening its representation, SDSA appointed Paul Casper from Lake Preston as one of three South Dakota representatives on the American Soybean Association board. The organization also welcomed two new ASA/Corteva Young Leaders for 2023-24: Riley Schoenfelder from Parkston and Ross Tschetter from Bridgewater.
These Young Leaders will participate in a program designed to enhance leadership skills and address agricultural issues, with the opportunity to serve on the SDSA board for up to three years.
The South Dakota Soybean Association (SDSA), a farmer-led organization, advocates for policies beneficial to soybean farming. It operates independently from the soybean checkoff and is governed by a board of elected leaders. SDSA actively participates in regulatory and legislative matters to support its members and the agricultural community.
