SDSU Extension will host a Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training session on May 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. CDT at the SDSU Extension Sioux Falls Regional Center, located at 4101 W 38th St Ste 103, Sioux Falls, SD 57106. This event is open to anyone involved in the raising or handling of cattle.
The BQA program is designed to help cattle producers improve their practices using science-based methods that ensure the well-being of cattle and the quality and safety of beef products. By attending this session, participants can become certified in BQA, with certification lasting for three years.
The BQA program provides valuable educational opportunities for both beef and dairy farmers and ranchers throughout South Dakota. It helps producers stay updated on the latest research and animal care techniques, which are critical to improving the quality of beef production.
BQA certification only boosts consumer confidence in beef but contributes to better herd management, improved profitability, and a positive public image for the beef industry. Additionally, it can enhance the sale value of marketed beef cattle.
This training event is a great opportunity for anyone involved in cattle production to advance their knowledge of proper livestock management and animal care techniques.
