Boadwine Dairy is opening its doors to the public for an open house event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 16. The free, family-friendly event will feature tours of the modern dairy farm, including the milking parlor, baby calves and the new addition to the farm's maternity barn. A free lunch and ice cream shakes will be served.
Boadwine Farms has grown through four generations and into the 2,200-cow dairy that it is today. The open house will feature discussion and demonstrations of practices focused on sustainability, including a new partnership between the farm and Brightmark to capture renewable natural gas (RNG) from cow manure.
"We are excited to return to Boadwine Dairy for an open house to share not only how today's farmers care for cows and calves, but also the practices they are putting in place to protect our land and water resources for generations to come," said Heidi Zwinger, outreach director for Ag United.
