The South Dakota State Fair announced that First Dakota National Bank has made a $250,000 contribution to the DEX: Dakota Events CompleX. The DEX is a new, multipurpose livestock and equestrian complex at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron.
"Since 1872, First Dakota has called South Dakota home," said Rob Stephenson, President of First Dakota National Bank. "Our commitment to the region and agriculture runs deep. With the State Fair's 137-year history and its continued support of youth and agriculture, we knew this was a great cause for First Dakota to get behind. We are excited to help bring the Dakota Events CompleX (DEX) to reality in 2023."
The DEX will provide exhibit space for over 13,000 4-H and FFA students across the state and expand the event hosting capabilities of the fairgrounds. Throughout the year, the DEX will also serve as a major draw for livestock shows, 4-H competitions, FFA Conventions, and rodeos as well as concerts, thrill shows, and more from across the country.
First Dakota became the first fully chartered bank in the Dakota Territory when it opened its doors in 1872. For 150 years, the organization has sought to support local dreams and communities with dependable banking. Today, First Dakota has grown to a network of 17 full-service locations and four loan production offices. They deliver a complete array of banking, wealth & trust, and investment services to individuals, businesses, and ag customers.
The DEX is the new multipurpose livestock and equestrian facility replacing the Open Class Beef Complex destroyed by fire in 2020. The 150,000 square-foot facility will be able to house two full-sized equestrian arenas and seat up to 5,000 people and have two show rings with 1,700 cattle stalls. The facility will be heated for year-round usage. The DEX will have a pre-function and concession area with restrooms. The DEX will be open for the 2023 State Fair.
