New KUHN Mergers Improve Hay Harvest Efficiency

New KUHN Mergers Improve Hay Harvest Efficiency

By Jamie Martin

Modern forage operations require equipment that can handle large workloads while protecting crop quality. To meet this need, KUHN has introduced the new Merge Maxx® MM 1102 and MM 1302 triple hay mergers.

The latest models are designed for commercial hay producers and large dairy operations that demand efficient field performance. Built for high-volume work, the machines combine advanced controls with heavy-duty components to improve productivity during harvest.

Among the major upgrades are ISOBUS controls, a durable 42-inch conveyor belt, and an updated floating windguard. Together, these features promote smooth crop transfer, consistent windrow formation, and greater operator comfort.

The floating windguard plays an important role in minimizing crop loss. By helping create even windrows, it supports efficient feeding into forage harvesters and contributes to more consistent harvesting results.

The machines also feature powerful hydraulic systems and a wide belt designed to maintain a steady crop flow. This enables operators to work confidently in thick, high-yield forage conditions without sacrificing performance.

Ease of operation is supported through the IntelliMerge® ISOBUS control system. The technology allows operators to manage essential machine functions from the tractor cab while receiving real-time performance updates.

“The Merge Maxx® MM 1102 and 1302 are designed for operators who demand maximum throughput without compromising crop quality,” said Travis Wolf, Hay & Forage Product Manager. “These machines deliver smooth, efficient merging even in dense, high-yielding forages, helping operators make the most of every cutting window.”

To increase durability, KUHN has equipped the mergers with commercial-grade pickups featuring split bearings and anti-wrap discs. Additional technologies, including spring belt tensioning and OptiSense belt stall detection, help prevent plugging and reduce interruptions in the field.

The new models are designed to help producers maximize throughput while maintaining forage quality. Their combination of crop protection features, operator-friendly controls, and reliable performance makes them suitable for demanding harvesting environments.
