South Dakota Soil Health Coalition and South Dakota Farmers Union will hold a Soil Health Tour hosted at Kolousek Farms, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., July 21. Participants will be able to see how the Kolouseks successfully employ sustainable land management practices like rotational grazing, diverse crop rotations, cover crops, good residue management and livestock integration on cropland to improve their soil health and operational profitability. There will also be a rainfall simulation to demonstrate how these practices improve water infiltration and reduce erosion.
The tour will be held at 37228 234th St., Wessington Springs. Registration for the event is free, and a lunch will be included. Participants are asked to register at https://tinyurl.com/2022KolousekTour for accurate lunch counts.
