Soil Management Event Helps Growers

Soil Management Event Helps Growers

By Scout Nelson

A full-day educational meeting on soil management and farm profitability is being offered to help farmers, students and advisors learn practical ways to improve crop results and long-term field health. The event brings together experts who discuss soil fertility, weather trends, corn fungicide use and strategies to manage soil health in a profitable way. It is designed to guide participants through the latest research while helping them make informed decisions for their operations.

The day begins with registration, coffee and a chance to connect with others. The first session focuses on managing soil fertility in an efficient and balanced way. This lesson helps farmers understand how to support strong crop growth while using nutrients wisely.

A short break follows before the next topic, which explains the long-term weather outlook and how climate patterns can shape farm planning.

The meeting continues with a session on fungicide use in corn. This talk highlights costs and potential returns, helping growers choose the best approach for their fields. Lunch is provided before the Southeast Research Farm Annual Business Meeting, where elections and updates take place. This portion is brief and open to members.

The afternoon includes a research update from the Southeast Research Farm, sharing results from ongoing studies that support more sustainable cropping practices.

Another session explains how to manage soil health in a way that supports both the land and the farm budget. A panel discussion closes the program, allowing participants to ask questions and learn from different viewpoints.

The meeting requires registration, with a small fee for the public and free admission for Southeast Farm members. Continuing education credits for certified crop advisors are also available.

This event offers valuable knowledge for anyone working to improve soil health and crop performance. Visit Eventbrite to register.
