A Cow/Calf Calving Camp is being offered as an interactive learning event for farmers, ranchers and students who want to build or refresh their calving skills. The program is held in a classroom and lab setting to help participants understand the full calving process in a practical and simple way.
It aims to guide both new and experienced producers as they prepare for the next calving season.
The camp covers several important topics. One of the key lessons focuses on the stages of labor, helping learners understand what happens before, during and after birth. Knowing these stages supports better decision-making when a cow is close to calving.
A hands-on delivery activity using a cow and calf model gives participants the chance to learn proper techniques, ask questions and practice skills in a safe environment.
Calf care is another major part of the training. Participants learn about calf processing, the basic supplies needed at birth and simple steps that support a healthy start for newborn calves.
The camp also highlights the value of record keeping, which helps producers track births, health details and management needs throughout the season.
Registration for the camp is limited to 20 people, allowing for close guidance and personal support. The fee includes a meal and learning materials. Individuals may attend for a single-person rate, or two people from the same farm may attend at a reduced combined cost.
This event is designed to make calving education easy to understand, accessible and useful for anyone working with cattle.
The camp provides a welcoming environment where students, farmers and ranchers can build confidence, improve skills and learn new methods to strengthen their calving success. Visit Eventbrite to register.
