USDA Launches Major Disaster Relief Fund

USDA Launches Major Disaster Relief Fund

By Jamie Martin

In a major effort to support disaster-hit areas, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has committed $340.6 million to help rebuild rural America. This fund targets the recovery of farms, homes, and essential services impacted by hurricanes, wildfires, and storms in several U.S. states.

“My heart goes out to the families across our great country who have lost loved ones, homes, businesses and livelihoods,” said Secretary Rollins. “As one of his first executive actions, President Trump made it a top priority for his administration to deliver fast and fair relief to communities impacted by disasters. USDA is fulfilling the President’s promise today and ensuring we are doing everything we can to support state and local efforts to rebuild these communities to be even stronger than before.”

North Carolina will receive $25 million, and Tennessee will get $18 million to rebuild after multiple hurricanes since 2022, including Fiona and Ian.

The fund will be distributed as follows:

  • $5.8 million for farm and business growth
  • $15.6 million for rebuilding rural infrastructure
  • $20 million to restore drinking water and sanitation
  • $2 million in technical help for local governments

In addition to financial support, the USDA is simplifying the process by eliminating income and population limits, ensuring quicker access to aid.

This disaster assistance package focuses on helping rural families, farmers, and small businesses recover and build stronger futures. Homes, businesses, and essential infrastructure will be restored with this much-needed support.
