South Dakota Farmers Union has honoured two farmers from Brown County with the Ag Ambassador Award at its 109th State Convention in Huron, South Dakota. The award celebrates their significant contributions to South Dakota’s agricultural industry and dedication to community service.
“Agriculture is South Dakota’s number one industry, and their passion and service have greatly benefited the state and its people,” said the President of the South Dakota Farmers Union.
One of the recipients is a fourth-generation farmer who played a vital role in legislative changes, including revisions to agricultural land tax valuation. This individual’s commitment to policy ensured fair treatment for farmers and improved agricultural productivity. Additionally, they dedicated years to community service through various roles in local churches, fire associations, and legislative positions.
The second recipient, a third-generation farmer, was known for a deep belief in cooperative business models and service to the agricultural community. A strong advocate for rural voices, this farmer supported cooperatives and served on local boards, fostering growth and development in South Dakota’s rural areas.
Both recipients demonstrated remarkable leadership and left a lasting legacy, inspiring the next generation to continue advancing South Dakota agriculture. Their commitment to family, community, and the farming profession stands as a testament to their impact on the agricultural sector.
