South Dakota State University (SDSU) proudly announces the launch of a pioneering educational program—the first Bachelor of Science degree in Precision Agriculture in the United States.

This innovative program is set to prepare students for the evolving demands of the agricultural sector by integrating advanced technologies and sustainable practices.

Precision agriculture is at the cutting edge of the agricultural industry, transforming farming with tools like GPS navigation, satellite and drone imagery, and computer-integrated farm equipment.

This rapid evolution is not only enhancing farm productivity and ecosystem sustainability but also creating new opportunities and demands for skilled professionals.

SDSU's Precision Agriculture degree is a collaborative effort between the Department of Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering and the Department of Agronomy, Horticulture & Plant Science.

The program is designed to produce top-tier graduates by incorporating feedback from industry and research findings into its curriculum. This approach ensures that students not only learn core agricultural sciences but also adapt to new technologies and tackle complex challenges facing modern agriculture.

By focusing on the intersection of technology and agriculture, SDSU's Precision Agriculture program aims to lead the way in educating the next generation of farmers and agricultural scientists.

Students in the program will gain firsthand experience with the latest advancements in the field, preparing them for successful careers in a rapidly changing industry.

This degree is a significant step forward in meeting the growing need for knowledgeable and skilled agriculture professionals who can navigate the complexities of modern farming.
