SDSU webinar on beef to school program

SDSU webinar on beef to school program

By Scout Nelson

SDSU Extension is offering an engaging and informative webinar on October 29, 2024, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. CDT. The webinar will cover the "Beef to School" initiative in South Dakota, focusing on introducing elementary-age youth to animal agriculture through the "Adopt-A-Cow" program.

This program provides hands-on activities and virtual connections with real South Dakota cattle, offering a unique learning experience.

The "Adopt-A-Cow Beef" program is designed to help children learn about animal agriculture and the beef industry by providing interactive and educational materials.

During the webinar, participants will be introduced to these materials and learn how to effectively use them to engage students. The program connects youth with South Dakota cows, making the learning process fun and relatable.

As part of the "Beef to School" initiative, the webinar aims to enhance agricultural literacy among young students, giving them a deeper understanding of where their food comes from and how it is produced. By using the "Adopt-A-Cow" materials, educators can bring real-world agriculture into the classroom in a dynamic way.

There is no fee to attend the webinar, but participants must register in advance to receive the Zoom link and reminders. For more information or to register, contact Christine Wood, SDSU Extension 4-H Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Field Specialist, or Madison Kovarna, SDSU Extension Beef Nutrition Field Specialist.

This webinar is an excellent opportunity for educators, parents, and anyone interested in youth agricultural education to learn more about incorporating beef and animal agriculture into classroom activities.
