First Bank & Trust pledges $50,000 to Raise The SHED

First Bank & Trust pledges $50,000 to Raise The SHED

The South Dakota State Fair Foundation is buzzing with excitement as First Bank & Trust steps forward with a generous $50,000 pledge to the ‘Raise The SHED’ Fundraising Campaign. In a bid to amplify the impact, the bank has also thrown down the gauntlet, challenging four other community banks in South Dakota to match their contribution. If met, this collective effort could inject an additional $250,000 into The SHED project.

The SHED, located at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron, is not just a shelter but also a hub housing Open Class Sheep, a show arena, and an educational center. It aims to provide interactive education about the sheep industry, diverse agricultural avenues, and South Dakota's rich agricultural tapestry to both learners and enthusiasts.

Kevin Tetzlaff, the President & CEO of First Bank & Trust, expressed the bank's enthusiasm in contributing to a project of such significance. “This multi-use facility will be a cornerstone for South Dakota’s agricultural industry, nurturing the next wave of ag professionals and inviting a new generation of fairgoers to explore and appreciate our agricultural heritage,” he remarked.

With a fundraising goal set at $3 million and an overall project cost estimated around $8 million, every contribution counts. The ‘Raise The SHED’ campaign is reaching out to potential donors at all levels, offering a variety of opportunities including naming rights and donor wall sponsorships. More information on how to contribute is available at www.sdstatefairfoundation.com.

Considering the developments, the former Open Class Sheep Barn has been dismantled, marking the beginning of a new chapter with project planning and design for The SHED underway. The Foundation anticipates hosting a groundbreaking ceremony during the 2024 State Fair, signaling the commencement of a promising new phase for agricultural engagement and education in South Dakota.

South Dakota State Fairgrounds Manager Peggy Besch and Fundraising Campaign Chairman Larry Tidemann are available for inquiries about the project or the 'Raise THE SHED' campaign, while a list of committee members and campaign details can be found at www.sdstatefairfoundation.com.
