Join the quest to refine sowbridge educational series

Join the quest to refine sowbridge educational series

By Scout Nelson

SDSU Extension is turning the spotlight on swine producers' insights! A golden opportunity has emerged for individuals involved in swine production to shape the future of the SowBridge educational series. Whether you're a seasoned subscriber, a recent participant, or new to the series, your voice can make a difference.

Behind this initiative is Ryan Samuel, an assistant professor and dedicated SDSU Extension Swine Specialist. The goal is to gather valuable feedback through a needs assessment survey. This crucial step will help educators discern if it's time to steer the program in new directions or introduce nuanced changes.

But SowBridge isn't a standalone entity. It's a significant cog in the wheel driven by the Iowa Pork Industry Center at Iowa State University, operating in sync with a consortium of academic institutions across major swine-producing states. The series, known for its broad appeal, invites engagement from a wide spectrum of swine industry roles — from owners and caretakers to managers and service providers.

SowBridge offers timely, topic-specific content from experts in universities and the swine industry through monthly webinars. These hour-long presentations combine in-depth discussions with interactive Q&A sessions. If missed, webinars are accessible online for six months, ensuring flexible learning.

To share your thoughts and experiences, visit the SowBridge Needs Assessment online survey. But act fast, the survey closes on November 1.
