The South Dakota Corn Growers Association (SDCGA) is gearing up for its 39th Annual SD Corn Conference on January 18, 2025. This significant event will be held at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, promising a day packed with valuable educational sessions and an engaging evening celebration.
The conference will kick off at 10 AM with an introduction by daytime moderator Mike Pearson. Attendees can look forward to a series of expert-led sessions focusing on critical topics such as weather forecasting, grain marketing trends for 2025, and sustainable aviation fuel—a particularly noteworthy session given its relevance to modern agricultural practices and environmental sustainability.
Jeff Davidman, Vice President for State and Local Government Affairs for Delta Air Lines, will deliver a presentation on sustainable aviation fuel. Delta's commitment to procuring over 400 million gallons annually by 2030 highlights the importance of this initiative to the airline and the broader goal of reducing environmental impact.
The educational sessions are free and open to walk-in attendees from 10 AM to 3 PM, offering an opportunity for all interested parties to gain insights into these pertinent subjects without prior registration. A complimentary BBQ lunch at 12:30 PM will provide a casual setting for attendees to network and discuss the morning's topics.
The evening portion of the conference, running from 5:30 to 10 PM, is a ticketed event. It will feature a plated meal, awards ceremony, and a silent PAC auction, culminating with a keynote address by Keni Thomas, a former Army Ranger involved in the "Blackhawk Down" operation. His experiences and storytelling are expected to be a highlight of the evening, offering inspiration and reflection for the attendees.
This annual event not only serves as a platform for education and networking but also celebrates the achievements and challenges of the South Dakota agricultural community. The SDCGA, dedicated since 1986 to representing and advancing the interests of local corn producers, continues to focus on impactful advocacy and leadership in agricultural issues at the state and national levels.
The conference is a cornerstone event that encapsulates the association’s commitment to its members and the broader agricultural sector.
