The South Dakota Master Pork Producers Association has awarded $1,000 scholarships to four deserving students from South Dakota State University (SDSU).
The recipients, Corbin Fuoss of Armour; Revin Bruck of Persia, Iowa; Autumn Kramer of Kindred, North Dakota; and Brynn Lozinski of Clara City, Minnesota, are all passionate about carving out a career within the swine sector.
This financial aid was announced on January 10, 2024, during the celebrated annual South Dakota Pork Producers Convention held in Sioux Falls.
The event, which is a highlight for industry professionals and students alike, saw these scholarships as a highlight, underlining the commitment of the South Dakota Master Pork Producers Association towards nurturing future talent in pork production.
Funding for these scholarships is raised through the council’s annual Pork Chop Open golf tournament, an event that brings together industry partners, enthusiasts, and supporters for a cause that extends beyond the fairways.
Bob Thaler, a distinguished professor at SDSU and the Farm Credit Services of America Endowed Chair in Swine Production, emphasized the association’s objectives. He highlighted the importance of recognizing excellence in pork production, supporting educational efforts of future producers, and making a lasting impact across South Dakota's swine industry.
With this scholarship program, the South Dakota Master Pork Producers Association not only supports students financially but also encourages the continuation of academic and professional excellence in the swine industry, ensuring a robust future for this vital agricultural sector.
