The South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council is inviting soybean farmers to apply for the 2025 See for Yourself tour. This program gives participants a firsthand look at how checkoff investments help promote soybeans internationally.
The See for Yourself tour is designed to help farmers understand how their soybeans are used beyond the farm. It highlights the role of the soybean checkoff in marketing South Dakota and U.S. soy to global buyers.
The 2025 tour will be held in Mexico from July 7–11. Key stops will include the Viterra Shuttle Station, Proan's Feed Mill, Empresas Guadalupe, and an update from the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC). Participants will explore how soybeans are used in international food and industrial applications.
“The See for Yourself program was a fantastic experience,” said a past participant. “Seeing the export process up close was eye-opening, but what’s even more exciting is learning about what happens to our soybeans after they leave the country. I encourage farmers to take this opportunity to understand the full journey of their crop beyond the farm gate.”
The program is fully funded by the South Dakota Soybean Checkoff. This includes travel, lodging, and meals for those selected. Applicants must be over 21 and actively growing soybeans in South Dakota. Applications will be accepted until May 10, 2025. A cancellation fee of $200 will apply after May 19, 2025.
Interested farmers can apply at www.sdsoybean.org or contact the South Dakota Soybean office at (605) 330-9942 for more information.
