For the week ending August 4, 2024, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated 6% very short, 26% short, 63% adequate, and 5% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 4% very short, 19% short, 70% adequate, and 7% surplus.

Field Crops Report:

Corn condition was rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 27% fair, 52% good, and 15% excellent. Corn silking was at 81%, behind last year's 90% and near the five-year average of 83%. Dough was at 30%, close to last year's 33% and the average of 26%.

Soybean condition was rated 2% very poor, 7% poor, 23% fair, 55% good, and 13% excellent. Soybeans blooming was at 80%, below last year's 87% and near the average of 83%. Setting pods were at 43%, behind last year's 54% and the average of 52%.

Winter wheat harvested was 86%, near last year's 83% and ahead of the 80% average.

Spring wheat condition was rated 0% very poor, 4% poor, 21% fair, 68% good, and 7% excellent. Spring wheat harvested was at 39%, ahead of last year's 33% and near the average of 37%.

Oats condition was rated 0% very poor, 5% poor, 17% fair, 66% good, and 12% excellent. Oats harvested was at 69%, ahead of last year's 62% and the average of 57%.

Sorghum condition was rated 0% very poor, 4% poor, 30% fair, 62% good, and 4% excellent. Sorghum headed was at 54%, well behind last year's 81% and near the average of 58%. Coloring was at 2%, behind last year's 15% and near the average of 4%.

Sunflower condition was rated 0% very poor, 4% poor, 22% fair, 65% good, and 9% excellent. Sunflowers blooming was at 11%, well behind last year's 34%.

Pasture and Range Report: 

Pasture and range conditions were rated 4% very poor, 11% poor, 34% fair, 40% good, and 11% excellent.
