High Plains Processing, a subset of the South Dakota Soybean Processors, LLC, is set to upscale its presence in South Dakota. The recent announcement shows the firm's commitment to fostering value-added agriculture in the region with the establishment of a cutting-edge multi-seed processing unit close to Mitchell. This step is in sync with South Dakota's booming growth.
Governor Kristi Noem praised South Dakota's progress in multi-seed switch processing, citing its work culture, favorable business environment, and foundational values. The plant has 35 million bushels of soybean annual capacity and storage capabilities for 4M bushels of high-oil seeds and soybeans, 8000MT of meal/hulls, 12.3M gallons of crude oil, and 3.52M gallons of refined oil.
South Dakota Soybean Processors CEO Tom Kersting praised the benefits of the new facility for local communities and producers. The Davison County Commission approved a $21MM TIF plan, and support from the Governor's Office of Economic Development was secured.
Mitchell and neighboring regions are expected to experience economic growth due to the project, which will create 85 full-time jobs and a $5.5M annual payroll. This expansion strengthens South Dakota's position as a key hub for value-added agriculture.
