However, tax reform emerged as a primary focus.

South Dakota Farmers Union leaders emphasized the importance of addressing tax policies that impact education, road funding, and agricultural operations. "It starts at the bottom because the producers of the state are being taxed in the ag world, which drives our education and road funding," explained one board member.

The convention encouraged open conversations, allowing attendees to share diverse perspectives. With agricultural practices varying greatly across the state, these discussions provided a platform to create well-rounded policies. “What works in one county may not work in another. Getting people together to exchange ideas leads to better policies,” noted a policy committee member.

The event also highlighted the importance of including farmers and ranchers in decision-making processes. By involving those directly affected, the South Dakota Farmers Union aims to create impactful solutions that benefit the entire state.

Through collaboration and dialogue, the convention reaffirmed its commitment to addressing critical challenges in agriculture, ensuring that the voices of stakeholders shape the future of South Dakota’s farming and ranching community.
