FieldWatch, a non-profit dedicated to fostering communication and stewardship in agriculture, has recently welcomed Texas as its 27th member.
This partnership enables Texas beekeepers and crop producers to use DriftWatch™ and BeeCheck™, FieldWatch's online registries, to map apiaries and crop fields, helping pesticide applicators avoid these sensitive areas.
Texas joins a network that includes 26 other states, one Canadian province, and the District of Columbia. The inclusion in FieldWatch will provide Texan beekeepers and farmers with a platform to promote safer and more effective pesticide use, ensuring their livelihoods are protected and their practices are sustainable.
Bob Walters, President and CEO of FieldWatch, emphasized the importance of the registries - "The goal is to get beekeepers and crop producers registered through FieldWatch, so applicators can access accurate information before spraying,” showcasing the proven benefits of this model in enhancing agricultural stewardship.
The Texas Department of Agriculture supports this initiative as a valuable tool for its farmers and beekeepers, promoting safe pesticide practices that are crucial for maintaining the strength of Texas agriculture.
