SDSU Extension will host a Beef Quality Assurance training on February 24 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at the SDSU Extension Marshall County Office in Britton, South Dakota. The training is open to anyone involved in raising or handling cattle.
The program is funded by the Beef Checkoff. It helps producers improve their farming practices using science-based methods. These practices focus on cattle well-being, beef quality, and food safety. The goal of the training is to support continuous improvement in beef production.
During the event, participants can become Beef Quality Assurance certified or renew their certification. The certification is valid for three years. By becoming certified, producers can show their commitment to responsible cattle care. Certification also helps improve herd profitability through better management practices. In addition, it protects the public image of the beef industry and supports stronger consumer confidence in beef products.
Producers who cannot attend the in-person session can complete the certification online through the Beef Quality Assurance program. This option allows flexibility for those with busy schedules.
