Celebrating 25 Years of women in agriculture

Celebrating 25 Years of women in agriculture

By Scout Nelson

South Dakota Women in Agriculture is dedicated to supporting and advocating for women passionate about agriculture in rural America. The organization, started by Stacey Blair Hadrick and Ida Marie Snorteland in western South Dakota, aims to provide education, support, and community for women in the agricultural sector.

After traveling across the state, the group launched the Rural Women in Agriculture conference, which continues to be a vital resource for women in the community.

In 2014, Ann Mackaben and a core group of women formalized the organization by establishing an educational non-profit. This non-profit now works on various agriculture-related projects in schools, youth programs, and within the broader community. The group also continues to host an annual conference that brings together women involved in agriculture to learn, connect, and share experiences.

As the organization celebrates its 25th anniversary, Chairwoman Deb Dobson and the South Dakota Women in Agriculture board invite all interested participants to join the silver jubilee conference. This year’s conference will take place on October 10-11 at the Lodge at Deadwood. The program will feature diverse and inspiring sessions aimed at empowering women in agriculture.

Registration for the event is open and costs $125. To register or learn more about the conference, visit www.southdakotawomeninag.com.

Women passionate about agriculture are encouraged to join the event to gain knowledge, share ideas, and advocate for the future of rural America.
