South Dakota corn stocks in all positions on March 1, 2023, totaled 409 million bushels, up 7% from 2022, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 255 million bushels are stored on farms, up 19% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 154 million bushels, are down 7% from last year.
Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 74.0 million bushels, down 4% from last year. On-farm stocks of 28.0 million bushels are unchanged from a year ago, but off-farm stocks, at 46.0 million bushels, are down 7% from 2022.
All wheat stored in all positions totaled 36.6 million bushels, up 13% from a year ago. On-farm stocks of 16.5 million bushels are up 74% from 2022, but off-farm stocks of 20.1 million bushels are down 12% from last year.
Sorghum off-farm stocks totaled 4.05 million bushels, down 15% from March 2022.
