SDSU Extension, alongside SDSU Department of Animal Science, the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association and the SDSU Athletics Department, will host the 31st Annual SDSU Lamb Bonanza Saturday, Jan. 7 at Frost Arena on the SDSU campus (1165 Jackrabbit Ave Brookings, South Dakota 57007).
From 1 to 2 p.m., members of the South Dakota Sheep Growers Association will serve lamb sliders and lamb spread crackers. Tipoff for the Jackrabbit women's basketball game is set for 2 p.m. During halftime, six lamb pelts will be auctioned – four “SDSU”-lettered pelts and two “Jackrabbit” pelts. Proceeds from the auction will help support undergraduate scholarships at SDSU for both student athletes and animal science students.
Additionally, SDSU Signature Wool products will be on display with information on where to order them. The scarves, stadium throws, and queen-sized trapper blankets are all made of 100 percent South Dakota-grown wool and have been processed to be cold water machine washable. Proceeds provide scholarship support to students in animal science and apparel merchandising.
