South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension has announced the return of its popular Garden Hour program. This year, the series will run as a limited offering during the fall and winter months, with sessions scheduled every other month.
The first Garden Hour of the season will take place on February 3 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The free online event invites gardeners of all levels to join SDSU Extension specialists as they share valuable insights and advice.
Topics will include tree care, tips for healthy houseplants, managing indoor insect pests, and best practices for storing and preserving produce. The series will also feature additional gardening subjects designed to help participants stay engaged and inspired during the off-season.
Garden Hour aims to provide practical answers to common harvest questions while preparing gardeners for even greater success in the 2026 growing season. By focusing on timely issues like pest management and produce preservation, the series ensures participants can apply what they learn both now and in the coming year.
The program is open to everyone at no cost. However, registration is required to access the Zoom link and session reminders. A single registration will automatically sign participants up for all sessions in the series, making it convenient to stay connected.
SDSU Extension specialists emphasize that Garden Hour is more than just a lecture, it is an opportunity for gardeners to interact with experts, ask questions, and exchange knowledge with a wider gardening community.
Whether someone is maintaining houseplants, planning for spring planting, or storing produce through the colder months, the sessions are designed to deliver reliable, easy-to-understand guidance.
