SDSU Hosts Free Webinars for Women in Ag

By Scout Nelson

South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension is offering a new educational opportunity for women in agriculture through its Annie’s Inspired webinar series. The free online program aims to help women gain essential skills, knowledge, and networking connections in today’s fast-changing agricultural environment.

Inspired by the national Annie’s Project initiative, the webinars are open to anyone interested in agriculture. Each one-hour session focuses on different aspects of livestock management and risk reduction.

The sessions will be held at 7 p.m. CST on November 17, 24, and December 1, 2025. Registration is free but required to receive the Zoom link through the SDSU Extension Events page.

The first session on November 17 will be led by Jaelyn Whaley, SDSU Extension Sheep Field Specialist. She will discuss the nutritional needs and management strategies for sheep and goats during pregnancy. On November 24, Range Field Specialist Kaylee Wheeler will explore winter grazing techniques that benefit both plants and livestock.

The final session on December 1 will feature Cow Calf Field Specialist Taylor Grussing, who will explain how calving season preparation can reduce stress for animals and producers.

“Our goal with these webinars is to equip participants with the knowledge to help them navigate the upcoming months with confidence,” Salverson said.

Annie’s Project continues to inspire women across the country by empowering them through education and community. The program helps participants make informed decisions, strengthen their operations, and build supportive networks within agriculture.
