A severe storm swept through the eastern part of South Dakota, bringing with it widespread damage. Officials report that Hudson, a community in the region, was one of the hardest-hit areas. Local resident Ben Hope described the chaos caused by the storm, saying that debris hit the side of his house and a tree fell onto it.
Hope mentioned that he had never experienced anything like this storm, adding that it was loud and intense, making it difficult to determine whether it was a tornado or something else.
The storm caused significant disruption in the town, with many homes affected by fallen trees and power outages. One of the most impacted places was a local nursing home, which had to be evacuated due to the loss of power. Communication in the area was also severely impacted, as the storm knocked down a cell tower near Beresford, making it difficult for people to stay connected.
Despite the destruction, authorities have reported that no injuries have been recorded so far. The National Weather Service is investigating whether the damage in Hudson was caused by straight-line winds or a tornado.
