The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) has announced funding approval of $15,878,000 for vital water and wastewater projects. This includes $3,464,000 in principal forgiveness. The funding was granted through DANR’s Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Fund Programs.
Deer Mountain Sanitary District received $450,000 to manage increased construction costs. The project includes a well house, water treatment building, 110,000-gallon storage tank, full pipe system replacement, water meters, and a booster station.
The town of Henry was granted $4,075,000, which includes $3,464,000 in principal forgiveness. The funds will help replace old water mains and add a ground storage tank with a booster pump station.
Pierre received a $516,000 loan to build a new landfill cell. This project adds to previous funding and has a 10-year term.
Randall Community Water District secured $5,000,000 to expand capacity for existing customers and supply water to Mitchell. The new loan helps increase pipe size from 24 to 30 inches.
Rapid City obtained $3,932,000 to upgrade its municipal well #4. Improvements include a new well house, well pump, motor, drop pipe, and pitless adapter.
Springfield got two loans: $505,000 for water pipe replacement and $565,000 to update sanitary sewer lines. Work includes replacing pipes, valves, and installing fire hydrants.
Webster received $835,000 to reline sanitary sewers in its Industrial Park. This project also builds on earlier funding.
These projects are supported by state and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funding. The programs offer low-interest loans to support public health, infrastructure, and environmental protection in communities.
