The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in South Dakota is on the lookout for innovative proposals. These proposals are aimed at Conservation Collaboration Cooperative Agreements (CCCA) to combat the state’s pressing natural resource issues.
This initiative seeks to amplify the impact of NRCS resources, foster collaboration, and cultivate conservation leadership at both state and community levels.
With over 60 active agreements statewide, South Dakota’s NRCS, under the guidance of State Conservationist Tony Sunseri, encourages projects that span various goals.
These include enhancing soil health, managing water quantity effectively, improving water quality, supporting local wildlife, boosting agricultural land's environmental and economic outcomes, aiding local food projects, and promoting Climate-Smart Agriculture and Forestry Activities.
Priority for funding, which ranges from $50,000 to $1.2 million for one to four-year agreements, will be given to projects focusing on soil health/climate smart agriculture, water quality and quantity, habitat enhancement, and urban/community agriculture initiatives.
Projects are encouraged to enhance the technical capacity of NRCS and partner field conservation employees and local partners to develop and implement projects aligned with NRCS’s mission.
The deadline for proposal submission is April 29, 2024. Applicants are urged to visit the site early to ensure they have all necessary account setups and to verify their unique entity identifier Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) and System for Award Management (SAM) information.
