South Dakota Ag Connection - 10/15/2020

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $1.5 million to provide broadband service in unserved and underserved rural areas in eastern South Dakota. This investment is part of the $550 million Congress allocated to the second round of the ReConnect Program.

"High-speed internet e-Connectivity allows businesses access to global markets, remote learning for students, and greater access to all kinds of health care," USDA Rural Development Rural Utilities Service Administrator Chad Rupe said.

Alliance Communications Cooperative Inc. will use a $1.5 million grant to deploy a fiber-to-the-premises network to connect 1,176 people, 19 businesses and 30 farms to high-speed broadband internet in Lincoln and Turner counties in South Dakota.
