Dairy beef short course in Sioux Falls

The 2024 I-29 Moo University Dairy Beef Short Course takes place on March 21 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls. Registration opens at 9 a.m., and the event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees will delve into the economics, marketing opportunities, and genetics of the dairy beef industry.

Warren Rusche, SDSU Extension Feedlot Management Specialist, highlights the significance of genetic changes in dairy beef production, which represent nearly 23% of cattle on feed in the U.S.

Presenters Darrell Peel from Oklahoma State University, Ken Odde and Bob Weaber from Kansas State University, and Lauren Kimble from Select Sires will share insights on various aspects of the industry.

The event includes panel discussions where attendees can interact with speakers and ask questions. The larger venue at the Denny Sanford Premier Center provides ample space for comfortable seating and an enjoyable learning experience.

Registration is $70 per adult, with discounts for college students. Early registration is due by March 8. Lunch will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to register for the Central Plains Dairy Expo, held with the event.
